Year 1 2024 - 2025

Welcome to Year 1.

The children will be welcomed and dismissed from the top door of the infant building near the main school gate.

Please make sure your child brings a coat, planner and reading book with them to school. We will send reading books home in line with our phonics scheme, but children are also welcome to bring books they'd like to read for pleasure to school or choose a book from the class library.

Children will continue to have fruit during morning break but if you wish for your child to bring their own snack this must be healthy and nut free.

Every Friday, children's planners will be checked and updated if necessary. Please sign your child's planner to show that they have read at least three times a week. We will continue to work on fluency and expression, and will further develop our understanding of the text we are reading using a variety of comprehension activities in school. English based homework will be reading and spellings, Maths based homework will be Numbots.

Weekly spellings will be tested and updated on Fridays.

On PE days, the children can come to school in their PE kit. 1W have PE on Tuesday/Friday. 1C have PE on Tuesday/Friday.
