Computing
Computing at Horwich Parish:
At Horwich Parish, we aim to prepare our learners for their future by providing opportunities for them to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for a digital future. Our Computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and digital citizenship to ensure children become competent in safely using, and understanding, technology. These strands are revisited and repeated throughout the curriculum to ensure the learning is embedded and the skills are developed successfully.
Computer Science offers opportunities for children to persevere and be resilient when facing challenges. In Digital Literacy, children can flourish in their use of technology and gain greater independence. In Digital Citizenship, children learn the vital steps to stay safe online including confiding in trusted adults and securing their accounts. We teach our children how to show love and respect in the real world as well as the online world. We believe that a high-quality computing curriculum enables all children to engage with and access the wider world whilst at school and in their future endeavours.
