Hello

It was lovely to welcome the children back to school this week after the half term holiday. I hope you all enjoyed time with your families.

I am thrilled to report a very positive update on our school attendance. Here are just a few indications that attendance is good and improving.

  • Whole school attendance is 96.65%, up from 94.7% last half term
  • Boys attendance is up from 94.3% to 96.6% and girls attendance up from 95% to 96.75%
  • Persistent absentees (those children who have 90% and below attendance) – these are reduced from 42 children (11%) to 25 children  (6.6%)  compared to the  national percentage for persistent absentees at 8.7%

Our “Lates” –number of times children who arrived after 8.50 am have been cut by 214 times! In the second half of the autumn term children were late 421 times compared to the first half of this spring term when we have had 207 times when children arrived late.

I will continue to monitor attendance in a bid to reach our target of 97% by Easter. Thank you to parents and children for your support.

Yesterday, Mrs Hasslam led our assembly and shared with the children Gods love in action during Lent. The children should have brought home a two sided sheet with 40 acts of love ideas to carry out during Lent. It would be wonderful if the children could complete as many or all of the acts of love during the next 7 weeks.

Please could the children return their sheets and any photographs to school when we return from the Easter break on Tuesday 14th April. The children who complete the 40 acts will receive a certificate and badge. Thank you for supporting your child with this.

Next week, we are looking forward to World Book day. More details attached.

Have  a lovely weekend
