Year 4 2022 - 2023
Welcome to Spring 1 in Year 4
Just a few reminders...
Your child must continue to bring their planner to school every day. These contain all the passwords they need as well as allowing us to check that they have read (and had signed) three times a week.
Your child is able to choose a book from our class library or they can bring one in from home. They are encdouraged to read their book throughout the day as well as at home. We would like you to sign their planner to show that they have read at least 3 times over the week. We also encourage the children to access Reading Plus at least once a week at home to encourage the development of their reading skills.
Our class novel this half term is Romans on the Rampage by Jeremy Strong.
At the end of Year 4, the children are tested on their times tables. They all have a multiplication card and are expected to practise their tables as often as possible, both at home and in school.
Our PE days are still on a Tuesday and a Friday.
Children can come to school wearing their full PE kit on their PE days.
Spellings and Homework
Spellings are given out weekly and tested weekly. They are written in the children's planners.
4R - Spellings are given out and tested on a Monday.
4B - Spellings are given out and tested on a Tuesday.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and has to be completed by the following Thursday. Details of homework will be in the childrens' planners.
Each half term, the children will be asked to complete some activities around our Foundation Subject. This half term, we are looking at What the Romans did for us.
We hope this information helps! If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on our email firstname.lastname@example.org
