Year 3B - Miss O'Boyle 2023 - 2024

We would like to welcome you to Year 3.

Miss O'Boyle is the class teacher for 3B supported by Mrs Kara as the teaching assistant.

We are looking forward to working together to help your child be the best that they can!

We hope the information below helps but you are welcome to contact us on our class email at anytime : [email protected]

Homework is set each Friday and details will be found in the each child's planner

In year 3, we work on reading comprehension texts daily as a whole class, though some children may also continue to work on fluency and decoding via the school reading scheme. Children are encouraged to choose a book from the class library but can also bring in a book of their choice from home to school which they can read at different points throughout the week, as we want to encourage a love of reading. Please can you sign the planner on the relevant page to show that your child has read at least three times a week. We also encourage the children to complete a session on the Reading Plus site once a week. The login details can be found in the planner.

Also, the children have been given a multiplication card. It would be great if you could help your child to improve the fast recall of each times table. In year 3 we will initially consolidate work from year two on the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables; then will move on to explore the 4, 6 and 8 times tables.

Weekly spellings will be given to the children on Friday and tested on the following Thursday.

On PE day, the children can come to school in their PE kit. In the autumn term our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays.

Further details of our curriculum coverage will be addded to the files below.

Many thanks for your support.

Best wishes.

The Year Three Team
