Welcome to Y1 with Miss Hargreaves and Mrs Ogilvie.

In Year 1 the children will be welcomed and dismissed from the top door of the infant building near the main school gate.

Please make sure your child is sent into school each day with a coat, reading planner with their book and a filled water bottle. Children will continue to have fruit during morning break but if you wish for your child to bring their own snack this must be healthy and nut free.

Homework will be given out on Friday. Each week the children will be provided with a piece of English and Maths homework to complete and return at the latest by the following Thursday. 

Please sign your child's planner to show that they have read at least three times a week. We will continue to work on fluency and expression, and will further develop our understanding of the text we are reading using a variety of comprehension activities. 

Weekly spellings will be given to the children on Friday and tested on the following Friday. This year the spellings will be in the planner.

On PE days, the children can come to school in their PE kit. Our class have PE on Tuesday and Thursday this half term.

Our project title for this half term is ‘Home Sweet Home’. This topic will enable the children to learn about their local area, families/ other relations and living things with their habitats
